First Time in Antigua

In December of 2022, I visited Antigua for the first time, on a solo trip at Christmas time during the pandemic. I stayed at an AirBnb in Fitches Creek and rented a small Toyota for transportation. For the week I was there, I visited beachside restaurants, downtown and shops, nature trails, the Fig Tree Studio Art Gallery, and the Betty’s Hope retired sugar plantation site.

The island of Antigua’s perimeter can be driven around in under two hours. There was not much road traffic. The island was clean and the people were accommodating.

On the grounds of the AirBnb were a friendly orange cat and black dog. I nicknamed them Cat and Dog, and welcomed them into my living quarters whenever ‘home’. They were great friends to me during that trip and I think of them often.

I long to visit Antigua again.
